One of my favorite memories from our summer vacation was our visit to Grandfather Mountain and the Mile High Swinging Bridge. The weather was beyond gorgeous and the short hike from the lower parking lot up to the bridge was fun and amusing with my two Florida girls. The reason it is called the Mile High Swinging Bridge is that when you stand in the middle of the bridge you are exactly 1 mile off the ground and yes, the bridge swings and sings in the wind. The 360 degree view when you reach the peak on the other side is stunning. Truly a wonderful experience!
